Program description

André Green was a leading voice in French psychoanalysis , a briliant thinker, and an innovative contribution to our field.  His writings sit at the crossroads of contemporary psychoanlysis . André Green was a true heir and disciple of Freud. His contributions revived and re-actualised core principles of Freudian thinking , increased the effectiveness of psychoanalytic practice, clarified obscure Freudian theory, followed up upon leads and intimations that Freud himself did not have sufficient time to fully work out, and in reconsidering some points, brought them to the beginning of some resolutions.

He revitalize metapsychology, making it come alive as a clinical theory by reinvigorating Freud´s theory of psychic representations. In this course, Howard Levine  presents Psychoanalysis for the 21^th century , extending the Freudian Matrix.

About the Presenter

Howard B.Levine Howard Levine is a member of APSA, PINE, the Contemporary Freudian Society, on the faculty of the NYU Post-Doc Contemporary Freudian track, on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Inquiry, editor-in-chief of the Routledge Wilfred Bion Studies Book Series, and in private practice in Brookline, Massachusetts. He has authored many articles, book chapters, and reviews on psychoanalytic process and technique and the treatment of primitive personality disorders. His co-edited books include On Freud’s Screen Memories (Karnac, 2014); The Wilfred Bion Tradition (Karnac, 2016); André Green Revisited: Representation and the Work of the Negative (Karnac, 2018); Psychoanalysis and Covidian Life (Ithaque, Phoenix Publishing House, Bucher, 2021). He is the author of Transformations de l’irreprésentable (Ithaque, 2019) and Affect, Representation and Language: Between the Silence and the Cry (Routledge, 2022).
