PROPOSAL 

In this virtual seminar, Meg Harris Williams, an outstanding colleague of Meltzer’s, will provide a straightforward and insightful introduction to the contributions of the notable psychoanalyst Donald Meltzer. The sessions will explore Meltzer’s perspectives on essential topics such as sexuality, dreams, psychosis, perversion, and aesthetics, as well as his experiences with both children and adults. These online seminars will particularly emphasize Meltzer’s thoughts on the essence of psychoanalysis as a collaborative investigative process between two individuals. By relating Meltzer’s concepts to present-day issues, Meg H Williams will offer a new perspective on his work, making his rich and intricate theories about our inner experiences more accessible to everyone.

MEG HARRIS WILLIAMS (UK) 

Meg Harris Williams is a writer and lecturer on literature and psychoanalysis and also a visual artist. She teaches internationally and is a visiting lecturer at the Tavistock Clinic and for AGIP (Association of Group and Individual Psychotherapy), London, an honorary member of the Psychoanalytic Center of California, and editor of The Harris Meltzer Trust (formerly Clunie Press, publishers of works by Martha Harris and Donald Meltzer). Her books and papers have been translated into many languages and include: The Apprehension of Beauty (with Donald Meltzer; 1988), The Vale of Soulmaking (2005), The Aesthetic Development (2010), Bion’s Dream (2010), The Art of Personality in Literature and Psychoanalysis (2017), Dream Sequences in Shakespeare (2021), and Donald Meltzer: A Contemporary Introduction (2021). She has written two filmscripts based on Bion’s autobiographies (The Becoming Room, 2015). Website: www.artlit.info.

 Jani Santamaría PhD is a Training Analyst and Supervisor of children, adolescent and adults of the Mexican Psychoanalytic Association (APM) and is member of the American Psychoanalytic Association (APSA), Director of A-Santamaría Psychoanalysis Mexico A.C.

Latin American Board member of the IPA (2019 -2021) and (2021-2023)

Chair of the International Bion Conference Mexico 2022 and member of the International Advisory Committee: Routledge Bion Studies Book Series; member of the International Committee of Spanish Language Psychoanalysts. ExDirector of Community and Culture for the Latin American Federation of Psychoanalysis, FEPAL (2016-2018)
